Most of Kings Park was built in the 1970s and 1980s, so the housing is largely brick veneer with aluminium-framed windows and sliding doors. Decades on, that means rubber seals that have perished, rollers that have worn and the occasional pane cracked by a stray ball from the reserve. Kitchens and bathrooms of that era are also being renovated, which brings splashbacks and new shower screens into the mix.
Aluminium windows are quick to reglaze because the glass sits in a rubber gasket or bead rather than putty. We remove the sash, fit the new pane and refit it, with float glass cut at our Hoppers Crossing warehouse, so many broken windows in Kings Park are replaced within the day. Sliding door panels, low windows and bathroom windows are replaced with toughened or laminated safety glass to Australian Standard 1288 and the Building Code of Australia. The original framed screens in Kings Park bathrooms are now decades old, and many have cloudy glass, corroded frames or doors that no longer close. We replace them with new framed, semi-frameless, sliding or frameless shower screens made to measure in toughened safety glass. Yes. Sliding door glass is one of the most common replacements we do in 1970s and 1980s homes. The panel is removed, the old glass and gasket cleared, and new toughened safety glass fitted, as required for any door. We can also replace worn rollers or fit a pet door into the new glass during the same visit.
